Rupavahini’s
Newton ends transmission
Newton Gunaratne who resigned from
the post of Chairman Sri
Lanka Rupavahini Corporation saying he can no longer
work in that institution, is to continue as Presidential
Media Director (Electronic media).
Mr. Gunaratne was instructed by Media
Minister Anura Priyadharshana Yapa to resign this week.
He was offered a post in the Media Ministry, but he
turned down the offer.
Meanwhile, President Mahinda Rajapaksa
has advised SLBC Chairman Sunil Sarath Perera to remain
in his post despite moves to appoint him as Environment
Ministry Secretary. SLBC employees had opposed Mr. Perera’s
transfer.
