Braille
telephone bills for the disabled
President Mahinda Rajapaksa last week
directed the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission
of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) to provide telephone bills in Braille
for consumers with visual impairments.
The TRC said in a statement that it
has requested all seven Public Switched Telephone Network
(PSTN) operators to provide telephone bills in Braille
in accordance with this directive.
Provision of bills in Braille will
be an additional service offered to consumers who have
special needs. The Braille version will be accompanied
by the consumer’s regular bill. Although Braille
bills will have more pages, information will be the
same. |
