Harmony for heart-felt cause

Hearts in Harmony, a musical organized by the G.R. Handy Memorial Trust to raise funds to support their projects will be held at the BMICH on Sunday, Octobeer 29 at 7 p.m. The Trust funds the Children's Heart Surgery Programme and equips and upgrades existing Handy Memorial Units, very specially the Institute of Cardiology, National Hospital, Colombo.

The Handy Memorial Unit in Colombo comprises a Cardiac Catheter Lab and a Paediatric Cardiology Ward.

Most children who suffer from congenital heart diseases require surgery. These children who suffer from A.S.D. and P.D.A. (Hole in the heart) lead a normal life after surgery. They get assistance from the President's Fund and the trust off-sets the balance.

"Hearts in Harmony' is to be staged by Friends in Harmony and the Ladies' College choir. The programme will consist of music from around the world, semi classics, dance music and hits from Broadway musicals and a wide variety of entertainment including dance items.

Friends in Harmony consist of professionals from diverse fields drawn together by the love of music. The group is led by popular pianist Mrs. Indrani Wijesundera. The talented Ladies' College choir is led by Ms. Sureka Amarasinghe.

The principal sponsor of the event is Commercial Bank of Ceylon Limited. Tickets and box plan for this show are available at Titus Stores, Liberty Plaza, Central Finance Company, 270, Vauxhall Street, Colombo 2. National Hospital, Institute of Cardiology, Room 20, Kynsey Road (near St. Paul's Church), Colombo 10 and at the Ladies' College Vocational Centre, 27th Lane, Off Inner Flower Road, Colombo 7. Tickets are priced at Rs. 1,500, 1,000, 750, 500 and 300.
