CSE hosts Fund Managers
Conference in Singapore
The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) has organized
a conference targeting at Fund Managers based in Singapore on November
22 to promote the Colombo Stock Market, the CSE said in a statement.
This luncheon forum will be held at Sheraton Towers,
Scotts Road Singapore. Nivard Cabraal, Governor of the Central Bank
of Sri Lanka will deliver the key note address. There will be a
presentation by Nihal Fonseka, Chairman of the CSE on the potential
of the Colombo Stock Market followed by presentations by four of
the top listed companies selected on the basis of Market Capitalization,
namely Dialog Telekom, John Keells Holdings Ltd, Sri Lanka Telecom
and Commercial Bank of Sri Lanka.
The CSE has been one of the best performing stock
markets globally since 2001 and has recorded a consistent annual
average growth of over 30% in the All Share Price Index (ASPI) for
the last 5 years. The ASPI has recorded a remarkable growth of 2,117.0
points (524%) from October 2001 to October 2006. In 2006 to date
the ASPI has increased by 598.5 points (31.1%).
In 2005, the CSE recorded its highest ever net
foreign inflow of Rs 6.1 billion and in 2006 foreign investors continued
to be net buyers with net purchases of Rs 1.5 billion.
Against this backdrop the CSE has organized this
fund managers’ conference to attract more foreign investment
to the stock market.
A delegation comprising the Chairman and the Chief
Executive Officer of the CSE, Chief Executive Officers, research
analysts and investment advisors of member firms of the CSE and
representatives of Custodian banks will participate in the conference
to promote the Colombo Stock Market.
The CSE conducted two successful road shows last year with the
objective of attracting Sri Lankan expatriate professionals and
other Sri Lankans to the Colombo Stock Market. The UAE road show
was held in January 2005 and the Australia/New Zealand road show
was held in October 2005 |
