Rains shutdown one
ICU, but others functioning

Flood waters have forced the closure of an Intensive
Care Unit at the National Hospital, but patients need not fear as
the other ICUs in the hospital are functioning, hospital sources
said.
Senior nurse at the National Hospital Ramyani
de Soysa said Hospital officials decided to close down the unit
as it was unsafe for patients, adding that they had informed the
CMC about the situation. However, she said the other Intensive Care
Units were functioning as normal.
Meanwhile, CMC Commissioner Jayantha Liyanage
said they have already started the mopping up operation adding that
the water had stagnated due to Norris Canal getting blocked.
He said the canals come under the purview of the
Land Reclamation Board and they have been notified to clean up all
the canals, after the rains cease. |
