Cambrians Cricket Sixes

The opening day’s play of the Cambrian Invitation
Inter-Club Cricket Sixes organized by the Cambrian Cricket Wing
got underway at the De Zoysa Stadium in Moratuwa yesterday with
the weather gods not hampering play.
The organizers were able to complete the preliminary
round matches without a hitch with the games coming to an end before
schedule. Of the matches played Sebastianites recorded the easiest
win of the first round when they overcame Saracens SC. In another
match Chilaw Marians registered a thrilling win over Air Force.
The highest individual and team score of the match
was achieved by Army against Catamarans SC which they won comfortably.
Meanwhile the eight teams to advance to the quarterfinals were Sebastianites,
Police, CCC, Colts, Chilaw Marians, Moors, Army and Bloomfield and
the first quarterfinal is due to begin at 9.30 a.m. today.
The semi finals are scheduled for 3.00 p.m. and
the final at 4.00 p.m. The tournament organized by the Cambrian
Cricket Wing as a fund raiser to conduct sports activities for Prince
of Wales saw 21 of the 24 Premier league teams taking part along
with Moratuwa SC, Old Cambrians and Catamarans SC.
The schedules quarterfinals games are: Sebastianites
vs CCC, Police vs Colts, Chilaw Marians vs Army and Moors vs Bloomfield.
