Chaminda, manager Sri Lanka Rugby 7s

Former Sri Lanka second row forward Chaminda Rupasinghe has been appointed manager for the forthcoming Asian Games 2006, to be held in Qatar (Doha) next month. Rugby 7s will be one of the disciplines at the Asiad. Earlier Rupasinghe was manager of the Lankan 7s squad in year 2001-02.

Chaminda turned out for the Havelocks SC and later served as an administrator for the Park Club and for Sri Lanka rugby.

The Sri Lanka Rugby Union has approved his appointment. The 7s squad will start training from Nov. 6 at the Royal College Sports Complex. - BW
