Livelihood development project for tsunami victims

The programme was developed by the government with the assistance of the World Bank, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the International Labour Organization (ILO). This programme is being implemented by the Reconstruction and Development Agency (RADA).

Women beneficiaries with the products manufactured under the Livelihood Development projects.

Tsunami affected beneficiaries in five divisional secretariat divisions-Kuchchaveli, Trincomalee Town and Gravets, Muttur, Kinniya and Eachchilampathu in Trincomalee district recently exhibited their products manufactured under the livelihood projects at the specially set-up "Market Place" held in Trincomalee Town Hall.

These were for sale and for more bookings when the 5th Divisional Livelihood Development Plans for tsunami affected divisions in the district was launched.

The programme was developed by the government with the assistance of the World Bank, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the International Labour Organization (ILO).

This programme is being implemented by the Reconstruction and Development Agency (RADA). NEPC Chief Secretary S.Rangarajah inaugurated the event. ILO Chief Technical officer Duclear Weilngan, Trincomalee Additional Government Agents Gamini Amaratunge and A.Nadarajah and Divisional Secretaries of tsunami affected division in the district participated. Representatives of several non-governmental organizations had bought products exhibited by beneficiaries and some NGOs placed fresh orders.
