Malaysians in all finals
Sri Lanka International Satellite Badminton

Malaysian men and women continued to stamp their
class in the Sri Lanka International Satellite Badminton Tournament
which was worked off at the Royal Sports Complex Indoor nets yesterday.
The finals of the tournament will be worked off today commencing
at 9.00 am at the same venue. The participating countries are Afghanistan,
Austria, India, Iran, Malaysia, Maldives, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

and Sulochana Ariyadasa who gave their Malaysian counterparts
a good fight seen in action.

The only glimmer of hope for the home team faded
away when the Mixed Double pair of Chamira Kumarapperuma and Sulochana
Ariyadasa went down fighting to the Malaysian players who now have
moved into the final which is scheduled for today.
The Malaysian pair of Chan Peng Soon and Haw Chiou
Hwee got the better of the Lankan pair in straight sets 21-12 and
21-13. Now the Malaysian pair will meet the Indian doubles pair
of Chetan Anand and Jwala Gutta. However the Malaysians are the
favourites to win the title.
The Malaysian players were in cracking form when
they booked their appearances in all segments namely Men’s
Singles, Men’s Double, Women’s Single, Women’s
Double and the Mixed Doubles.

off today.
Men’s Singles final
Kenn Lim (Malaysia) vs Seang Chun Tan (Malaysia)
Men’s Double finals
Chiat Chun Khoo and Latif Abdul Razif (Malaysia) vs Soon Peng Chan

Women’s Singles
Xian Pei Julia Wong (Malaysia) vs Raj Anita Kaur (Malaysia)
Women’s Doubles
Jwala Gutta and Shruti Kurien (India) vs Hwee Chiou Haw and Loo
Yin Lim (Malaysia)
Mixed Double
Soon Peng Chan and Hwee Chiou Haw (Malaysia) vs Chetan Anand and
Jwala Gutta (India).
