Two arrested

Police investigators probing Friday’s attack on Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa have arrested two persons and detained 25 others for questioning and said they believed the suicide bomber was a Black Tiger from the eastern province.

Detectives from the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) and the Criminal Investigations Division (CID) have recorded statements from more than 30 eyewitnesses and are hunting for a few suspects who are providing information to the LTTE, CCD chief Sarath Lugoda told The Sunday Times.

He said the police had tracked down the owner of the three-wheeler used in the attack. Police sources said that they had recovered a cell phone used by the suicide bomber and believed it would be useful to track down on his contacts.
