Tharanga cracks first tour ‘ton’  
Sri Lanka’s rising star Upul Tharanga cracked the first century in their tour of New Zealand as Sri Lanka ended the third day of their four day match against the Otago Volts at a commanding 240 for 2 in 57 overs at the Dunedin University Oval here today.
 
A cool eight and a half billion smackers for SLC
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) will stage one of the semi-finals and earn a staggering eight and a half billion when they co-host the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2011. The 10th edition of the games greatest showpiece will be co-hosted by India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh with Sri Lanka and Pakistan hosting the semi-finals and India staging the finals.

As the Bible says at a point in history, God who was so angry with the prevailing evil in the world decided to destroy it. There he looked for good people that lived on earth to save them and saw only Noah and his family and decided to save them before he flooded out the rest of the world. In turn Noah built his boat and flocked all animals on to it before hitting the high waters. That was how Noah saved the world.

After 11 years of rugby at the highest level, Sri Lankan fullback Nalaka Weerakkody says that he is going to call it quits after the Asian Games. Despite criticism of various quarters, Weerakkody has been exemplary during training according to the management. Manager of the Lankan team Chaminda Rupasinghe said that Weerakkody was the first to arrive for practice even before he knew that he would be part of touring 12. Weerakkody replaced Mohommad Sheriff who according the coach has a hairline fracture on his wrist.
