Silvas on the move

'Silvas', a three piece band based in Geneva led by veteran guitarist Mano Silva of Redezvous and Dream Team fame will be in Sri Lanka for the festive season.
Silvas will be in action at he the 'Rhythm and Blues', Clancy's and H2O during the month of December.
Silvas comprises Mano and his two daughters Komali and Mihiri.
'I formed the band 'Silvas' in the year 2004 with my two daughters and my son.
At the moment we perform as a trio, occastionally featuring my son Tharaka.. But he won't be in Colombo this time' he said.

The style of music Silvas play is mostly R & B, Hip Hop and Dance.
'I play Guitar and sing, while Komali and Mihiri does vocals and plays keyboards.
Komali plays the piano since the age of 7 and Mihiri since 5. We perform only during the weekends as we all are employed in different fields' Mano said.
Mano works in the ICT field and he is attached to UBS, in Zürich as an Application Engineer. Mihiri is studying to be a fashion designer at the Government School for Dressmaking and Fashion Designer in Berne , while Komali: works 50% as a consultant for the Winterthur Insurance Company and the rest of the time does higher studies at the Government Bussiness School in Berne.
'I came to Europe with the band Redezvous in mid seventies and later performed with many bands'.
Redezvous then comprises of Russell Fernando, Chithral Somapala and Udaya Welikala and later performed with many European bands. |
