SSC FLOURISH

A very unlikely 158 not out in 235 balls with 25 boundaries and a six by Thilan Samaraweera coupled by two solid knocks from Avishka Gunawardena (93) inclusive of 13 boundaries and a six and Jeewan Mendis (94) with 12 boundaries saw SSC end the second day’s play on a massive 409 for 5 in reply to NCC’s 237 in their Sirasa Premier League cricket encounter played at the NCC grounds.

The onslaught began with an opening wicket stand of 137 between Avishka Gunawardena and Tharanga Paranavithana which was continued by another valuable stand between Thilan Samaraweera and Jeewan Mendis that yielded 219 runs for the fourth wicket.
