Lahiru shines at scrabble in Australia
14 year old Lahiru Elvitigala, student of Lyceum International School Nugegoda, took part in the inaugural World Youth Scrabble Championships held recently in Sydney, Australia. 51 youngsters under 18 years worldwide participated and Lahiru was placed 20th and also won the ‘Youngest Player Top 25’ trophy.
Whilst in Sydney he also took part in “The Central Coast Scrabble Tournament” and “The International Tournament Beta” which preceded the WYSC, and was placed 2nd & 5th respectively.
Lahiru was given a final training by Lakshman Cooray, member of the Scrabble League and the Scrabble Association and a schools scrabble coach, just for two months immediately prior to his departure to Australia. |
