‘Amaya’:A tale of love, jealousy and hatred
'Amaya' depicting a story of love that begets jealousy and hatred directed by Sanjaya Gunawardena is telecast every Friday at 8.30 pm on ITN channel.
It revolves around an uncle who thwarts a love affair started by his nephew in order to avenge his own sister is starred by Chathurika Peiris, Dananjaya Siriwardena, Cyril Dharmawardena, Sanjaya Leelaratne, Cletus Mendis, Hiyasinth Wijeyratne, G. R. Perera, M. V. Balan, Shan Bandu Weerasinghe and Prasannajith Abeysuriya.
Hailing from an aristocratic background, Paandu lives all alone running a flower farm in up country. The only relative he has is his sister with whom he is not on good terms . It was only Kalu Appu who is there to look after him. Paandu is forced to live this life after the untimely death of his girlfriend, a poor flower vendor. She had been subjected to the cruelties of Paandu's sister.
His lonely life begins to change with the entrance of his nephew Saminda. Saminda who had returned from England is the only child of Paandu's sister with whom he is angry now. But Saminda is close to his uncle. On his return to the country he makes the first visit to his uncle.
On his way at the station he meets a group of railway employees with Dharmasiri who promise to take him to the farm run by his uncle. On their way Saminda meets Amaya who comes to deliver Dharmasiri's lunch.
Amaya is Dharmasiri's only daughter and her mother is dead. Dharmasiri who introduces his daughter to Saminda asked her to take him to the farm and they become friends. This meeting develops into a love affair and they meet regularly.
Now Paandu who comes to know about this affair develops hatred. Though he pretends that he helps the young couple, back in his mind he uses this affair to avenge his sister. He uses Saminda and Amaya'a affair to realise his goal. How does he do it? What effect would this have on Saminda and Amaya's affair? To know this watch 'Amaya' every Friday on ITN Channel.
