Anil Kumara to head SLI – Personal Lines Division

Sri Lanka Insurance this week announced the appointment of Anil Kumara Meegahage to its top management as General Manager – Personal Lines with effect from December 1, 2006. He has over 17 years of experience in sales and marketing and joins as General Manager of Personal Lines, Sri Lanka Insurance from Unilever Sri Lanka, according to an SLI press release.

Commenting on how he views the insurance industry, Anil Kumara said "I see vast potential in the Insurance Industry in Sri Lanka for companies that employ effective supply channels and carry out prudent market segmentation, coupled with innovative insurance solutions and efficient service."

He said the key to winning customers has two sides. On one hand, the industry must focus on creating awareness through education on the need for insurance and on the other hand, companies must focus on superlative customer service standards with a view to targeted and focused service delivery.
“Unfortunately, awareness on this double benefit of insurance is still at a low ebb – consumers must be made aware of the true benefits it offers. A consumer's consideration of an insurance service should be based on its true benefits rather than be driven by negative connotations," he was quoted as saying.

Anil Kumara is the most recent among a series of high level appointments at Sri Lanka Insurance, all drawn from the cream of executive professionals from Sri Lanka’s corporate sector.
