First Capital glows on trading floor

First Capital Equities (FCE), a newly licensed stockbroker was ranked the number one (1) broker on the Trading Floor of the Colombo Stock Exchange for the month of November 2006.

The new broking firm said this was achieved in its first full month of operations.

Having commenced operations on October 19, 2006, FCE has been ranked as the fifth best performer on the Trading Floor for the full year 2006.

“We are happy to have made our presence felt so soon” Reshani Dangalle, Business Development Manager of First Capital Equities was quoted as saying in the statement. “In just three months of operations we have won the confidence and trust of the investing public,” she said.

The company combines the unique vision of a new entrant with the experience of a skilled team to offer professional and personalized services to make the CSE a simple yet profitable place to invest in.

“Our primary focus is to assist our clients to make informed decisions and provide them with better trading facilities and key research data,” noted Rohan Goonewardene, Managing Director/CEO of FCE.

“We will soon be launching our online trading system to disseminate time critical price and trading information to all our clients, with which we want to take our services nation wide.”

First Capital Equities (Pvt) Ltd is a newly instituted stock brokerage house funded by high profile local and international stakeholders.

The company’s share holders are debt specialist First Capital Ltd, apparel giant Hirdaramani, Raj Rajaratnam of Galleon Hedge Fund and Guardian Equity.

The Board of Directors comprise Hemaka Amarasuriya (Chairman), Rohan Goonewardene (Managing Director/CEO), B.R.L. Fernando, Ranil Pathirana, Ranjan Hulugalle and Maninda Wickramasinghe.
