Located in the heart of Pelawatte, 'Inside-Out' is the newest 'hot-spot' around. Equipped with a fully fledged kitchen so as to satisfy any palette and quench every thirst, it can very easily provide an 'all-conducive' package! From Biriyani to Italian specials, to steak, the menu has a wide selection of starters, soups, snacks, meals, desserts and hot and cold beverages.

On having studied the demographics of the area, 'Inside Out' was the brain-child of a resident of Pelawatte, who realised that the area lacked a proper place for people to simply unwind, chill out and enjoy a hearty meal or indulge in friendly conversation over freshly brewed coffee. The concept is to be more of a cosmopolitan experience, he explained. The menu keeps evolving regularly, with certain items being taken off and new items being introduced.

That way variety can always be ensured and the chefs too remain motivated. Having a mix of both experienced, and new chefs in charge of the kitchen department, a unique blend of delights have been concocted especially for the restaurant.

The in-house gift shop 'Mandana' is yet another unique aspect of 'Inside Out.' Whilst many of the items have been exclusively designed and produced for this shop, all items for sale have been especially hand picked, so as to ensure value for money and high quality products. Most of the ornaments, candle-stands and lamps etc that you see around the place, are for sale too. Nothing is kept purely for display purposes.

The owner also has plans to hold small scale exhibitions of various goods and possibly works of art, so patrons can treat their eyes at the same time as their stomachs, whilst simultaneously visualising the exhibits in their own homes.

With music by 'Buddha Bar' playing in the background, the atmosphere created is unmistakably unobtrusive and soothing. The music is in keeping with the owners' idea of maintaining a sense of eco-friendly aura about the place. From the packaging and the hand made paper being used, right down to the rather green and flowery environs of the place, there's a certain authentic and rustic look about the place that has been made quite purposefully so. The underlying feeling behind this venture is for it's patrons to take in the whole ambiance of the place, before even having a sip of coffee or a bite to eat! Half of the experience is in its surroundings. Even though it’s right by the roadside, once you've stepped inside, you become transported to a more peaceful terrain, where time stands still and life takes a back seat.

(Situated about 100 yards away from the Pelawatte HSBC, 'Inside Out' is open from 4 p.m. - 11 p.m. on weekdays and 10.30 a.m. - 11.30 p.m. on weekends and Poya days.)
