Raviraj probe:
Yard team leaves
with exhibits
The Scotland Yard team which arrived in Sri Lanka to assist the CID investigating TNA MP Nadaraja Raviraj’s assassination has left with a number of exhibits for further tests.
In a statement yesterday the British High Commission made it clear that the team was only here to advise the CID and had no authority to carry out an investigation.
The team had shared its experience and specialised expertise, including forensic and telephone analysis, the statement said.
It quoted the British police team as saying, “We hope our assistance will help the Sri Lankan police to identify and bring to justice those responsible for this dreadful crime.”
The team arrived in Sri Lanka on the invitation of President Mahinda Rajapaksa. |
