Bodybuilders cry for help

Due to the unethical way of conducting things by the president of the Sri Lanka bodybuilding federation Mr. Kapila Kumara there is a great downfall in bodybuilding in Sri Lanka.

Former presidents Chandana Alluthge, Anura Fernando, Former Vice President Darell Bartholameuze, Present Vice president Rangith Perera. Expressed their views on the present state of bodybuilding at a press conference held at Hotel Nippon, Colombo on January 10.

The issues that were mentioned by these officials were: Financial Irregularities within the federation, threatening of members and athletes, the international repute and recognition of the federation, banning of successful sports clubs affiliated to the federation.

Regarding the above mentioned they have placed a complaint with the Sports Ministry. “The sports ministry took action and an inquiry was held on the 19th of December but the present officials were absent, I believe have a fresh inquiry in the next couple of days.” said Mr. Chandana Alluthge

“The present executive committee of the bodybuilding federation is not adhering to the constitution of the body building federation. They are more interested in using the federation for their own personal interests than for the sport. I have not been included in the executive committee though I am the Vice President of the Federation, Said Mr. Rangith Perera

“I was the one who introduced the present president to the body building federation, but I am not satisfied with his current conduct and suggest that he and the administrative personnel of the association need to be changed under ministry intervention.” Said Mr. Darell Batholameuze. - S:BBF.
