Handing over of rebuilt war ravaged houses

The World Bank funded North East Housing Reconstruction Programme (NEHRP) with its headquarters in Trincomalee has been implementing a project with the participation of the beneficiaries in the Ampara district to reconstruct a thousand houses destroyed in the ethnic conflict.

Under this scheme 85 houses have been reconstructed at Addalaichchenai DS division and 45 at Sampu Nagar.

NEHRP has allocated a grant of Rs. 250,000 for each house and the houses are reconstructed with the participation of each beneficiary.

The handing over of the reconstructed houses to beneficiaries in Sampu Nagar is to take place today with Housing Minister Ms. Ferial Ashraff, as the chief guest.

Nation Rebuilding Ministry Secretary M.S. Jayasinghe and NEHRP Project Director S. Pathmanathan would be the special guests.
