Thomians have the better of exchanges

S. Thomas’ dominated the proceedings of the drawn Elephant Lemonade inter-school encounter against St Joseph’s which was also played for the Gilmour Jayasuriya trophy at Darley Road, yesterday. The Thomians had the Josephians struggling on 70 for 4 after making a formidable score of 250 on day one.

The second day’s play saw the Thomians dominating play again as they bowled out the home team for 169 with Milan Fernando doing the damage capturing 6 for 39 and reached the 50 wicket mark for the season.

The Thomians batting the second time were bogged down by Shameera Weerasinghe who restricted them before making a declaration with the score at 112 for 8. This left the Joes an impossible target of 194 for victory in only 14 overs and they ended the day on 66 for 3.
