Police Chief calls for more facilities for lower grades

By Premasiri Weerasinghe

Police Chief Victor Perera yesterday called for reforms in police service, saying that promotions and facilities should weigh more in favour of lower grade officers.

Addressing the opening ceremony of the Police holiday resort in Meniksisila, Kataragama, the police chief said that during the British rule, promotions and facilities were provided largely to the senior police officers.

“We have to change this structure by providing police officers in the lower grades with more facilities” he said.

DIG of Southern Province, Jayantha Gamage, Tangalle SSP Upali Hewage, Hambantota ASP 1 G.D. Gunewardena and Hambantota ASP Lalith Wickramasinghe participated in the opening ceremony.
