Welcome to a hell-hole

Dehiwela has become a hellhole due to the lethargy, inefficiency, inactivity and corruption by the members and officials of the Dehiwela–Mount Lavinia Municipal Council. It has recorded the highest number of Chikungunya, Dengue and Filaria cases more than any other suburb according to the health officials.

The Medi Centre at Dehiwela and Kalubowila Hospital are crowded with patients and many residents have died due to diseases caused by mosquito bites. There has not been road fumigation unlike other urban areas, very rare spraying since the new Mayoress assumed duties.

The drains are clogged with dirt and foul smelling refuse. Pavements are not levelled and broken slabs have not been replaced becoming death traps to residents. The Mayoress or members are hardly contactable and not receiving and acting on ratepayers’ needs and complaints. They seem to be in deep slumber.

Eating houses and hotels are not regularly inspected by Health Inspectors and no hotel vendor punished for selling contaminated and stale food and keeping the premises in an unhygienic condition.
