TNL ‘Paduru Party’ in memory of Late Clarence was a disaster
Lasantha Fernando of Nugegoda writes.....
The late Clarence Wijewardena was brought to shame by T.N.L. during the telecast of the above programme sometime back.
This much-respected legend deserved a better tribute than what was dished out on that day. Firstly, the program had some dance acts which were not suitable for a program of this nature, even one of the participants in the program started dancing much to the annoyance of Clarence's fans, mind you this comedy was performed in the presence of Clarence's wife.
Secondly, the benches which are generally full for this program were almost empty adding insult to injury. Thirdly, so many musicians who were very close to Clarence were not present on that day. Clarence's closest associates, Annesley Malawana, Indrani Perera, Anil Bhareti, Lankika and Shanaka Perera, Sangabo Corea, Vijaya Corea were not present on this particular day.
Can T.N.L. please enlighten me and the thousands of fans of late Clarence Wijewardena as to how and why the above named people who were part of his musical legacy were not invited for this program and how some people who had no musical connections to Clarence were invited.
Clarence's fans would like to have an answer from the producer of this program.
