CCC economic summit to give investment direction

The summit aims to provide strategic insight to foreign and local investors on investment opportunities and explore product development and market development opportunities, educate inputs of policy makers, business leaders, foreign experts and academics to enrich the way forward initiatives of the 10-year development framework while affording a learning experience for Sri Lanka through shared wisdom of erudite foreign keynote speakers and experts

The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC), in partnership with the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BOI), the organisers of the Sri Lanka Economic Summit for the second year in succession is targeting to showcase the current infrastructure projects together with the country's other potential investment projects to possible investors who will attend the conference.

“The summit due to be held from June 6-8 will give the government direction as to attracting potential investors,” Professor Lakshman R. Watawala, Co-chairman of the Convention Committee said.

He also said that through an exchange of views and shared experiences with a wide audience, revolving around the theme, "Spreading the Wings of Development", it is hoped that a convergence of perceptions on national priorities could be stimulated, towards realizing the targets projected in the 10 year plan of the government.

He added that the primary objective of the summit is to achieve a consensus and a partnership amongst the business community, civil society and public authorities, to fulfill the national aspiration for “A Better Sri Lanka For All”, through rapid economic development.

Mahen Dayananda, President CCC said that the summit will also provide the private sector with opportunities to form new alliances and identify emerging growth sectors.

Among the key speakers at the inaugural session would be Arun Nanda, Chairman/Managing Director Rediffusion –DY&R as Guest Speaker who would address the gathering on “ Branding Sri Lanka for the Global Market “, followed by Guest of Honour, Minister of Enterprise Development and Investment Promotion, Sarath Amunugama.

The Board of Investment of Sri Lanka and the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce will be conducting a promotional campaign overseas to attract investor participation at the Economic Summit.

It will also be widely marketed locally, targeting local investors, business leaders, senior government officials and academics.

Dayananda said that the Economic Summit will provide a report to be presented to the government on specific facilitative support expected of it, to attract private investments, so as to achieve the goals set out in the 10-year framework.
