Colombo YMBA Vesak activities

A week long programme of special dhamma desana by erudite monks and a sil campaign along with sessions of meditation and dana on Vesak full moon Poya day will be held in the main hall of the Colombo YMBA at Borella.

In addition to these activities, a special photographic exhibition depicting the history of the Colombo YMBA, its past and present religious and social service activities, will be held at the Gamini Matha Elder’s Home of the Colombo YMBA at Hunupitiya, Colombo 2 from 6 p.m. to 12 midnight on May 1, 2 and 3.

The history of the All Island Dhamma School examinations, the Gamini Matha Elders’ Home in Colombo, the Lakshmi Children’s Home at Walana, Katunayaka, the Pilgrim’s Rest at Kataragama, awarding of scholarships to needy children, publication of ‘The Buddhist’ journal and the other Dhamma books by the Colombo YMBA, the ‘Light of Asia’ contest, the Gadya/Padya contest and the all island inter-school Sinhala drama competition based on Jataka stories will be some of the features covered in the exhibition.

‘Bakthi Gee recited by the students of Sujatha Vidyalaya, Nugegoda, under the guidance and training of Visharadha Amitha Vedisinghe will be staged at the Gamini Matha Elders’ Home commencing at 8 p.m on May 1.
