Another American to represent Sri Lanka

A US citizen is tipped to be Sri Lanka's Consul General in Frankfurt, Germany. The Sri Lankan born US citizen is a son of serving socialist Cabinet Minister Athauda Seneviratne, and has been living in the US for some time now.

Meanwhile, lawyer and one-time Lake House Chairman Aloy Ratnayake who was earlier expected to go to Rome as ambassador, is expected to go to the Philippines.

Mr. Ratnayake was recently asked to go to Tel Aviv, Israel as ambassador, but had requested to serve in a "Catholic country". As another lawyer Hemantha Warnakulasuriya had already been appointed to Rome, and Mr. Ratnayake had to be accommodated, he was assigned the Philippines.

A career diplomat already serving in Manila has now been asked to proceed to Tel Aviv, as a result. Meanwhile, Prof. J.B. Dissanayake, an eminent Sinhala scholar and author, is likely to be posted as ambassador to Thailand.
