Romance and celebration at the opening of Colombo's latest chic restaurant Agra

Agra, the latest restaurant in Colombo was launched on May 27, 28 and 29, 2007, with an atmosphere of romance and colour, in keeping with its theme of love. This was reflected in all aspects of the event from the invitation card to the interior. The interior of the restaurant was one of fusion with a combination of black, yellow and white, along with burnt orange and mustard yellow, arousing the senses and souls of the guests.

A large tree at the entrance of the restaurant, decorated with large cloth lanterns, enticed the guests to enter into a romantic evening like no other. Lying in wait was a glamorously decorated marquee beckoning one to enter into a fantastic atmosphere comprising of georgette silk lace curtains, candles strewn all over interspersed with the incense of Joss sticks wafting through the air. There was delicate silk material dancing in the wind, in sync with the specially selected contemporary Hindi music. Beautiful models were inside each of the booths, dressed as fortunetellers and sitar players adding to the creative, festive atmosphere.

A cross section of society from the fields of drama, film, sports, business, politics, media and all who mattered, attended the colourful event, which was the culmination of a three day celebration. Entertainment was at its best when a group of young guys performed the hottest trend in music - beat boxing.

The opening began with the entire place being still in the darkness, with six pretty girls walking to the beat of a cymbal, with a surprise awaiting guests interspersed with light and sound, that led to the opening of the doors to a beautifully designed restaurant you are enticed to fall in love with, the moment you enter. The event was coordinated by Emphasis.
