Additional General Manager of Railways, Pathmasiri Chandratilake, is being investigated by the Bribery and Corruption Commission, for allegedly receiving a commission on a Rs. 9.7 million purchase of signal lamps for the Railways.
SSP Neville Guruge, Director of Investigations at the Bribery Commission told the Sunday Times that the Commission is to file action against the Chandratilake after he suspiciously purchased 1,250 lamps from a local company, while the Railways Department already had a sufficient stock of lamps.
SSP Guruge said while they did not have any details of the commission Mr. Chandratilake received on this purchase, he had caused a great loss to the government by purchasing an unwanted number of signal lights. He added that a Court case would be filed against the Additional General Manager this week. |
