De Mel wins yo-yo contest |

The incumbent chief selector Asantha de Mel finally has won his yo-yo contest against the interim committee. The SLCIC is to submit a fresh list of names to the minister of sports Gamini Lokuge this week for ratification. Earlier the Cricket Interim Comittee submitted a list of names omitting Asantha de Mel’s name. |

A do or die battle today |
Three teams may battle for two positions as the Davis Cup Division Three Asia-Oceania competition heads in to the final day at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association Courts (SLTA) today. The prize is the promotion to Division two of this prestigious tournament. |

Tougher assignments ahead |
Sri Lanka and Bangladesh did finish their three five day matches in less than ten days of playing time and if anyone wants to call it a name they can surely put it down as a no-Test series because it was just not contested. |

Bangladesh - back to the basics |
To become technically sound in cricket takes a lot of hard work, over a long period of time. The earlier the basics are learnt and practiced the better. When the game was played mainly by England, Australia and West Indies, with South Africa, India, New Zealand and Pakistan also participating, there was a great emphasis of becoming technically sound to reach the top. |
