SLC to felicitate local cricketers tonight

Sri Lanka Cricket will be having their Cricket Awards Night to felicitate Club Teams and Special Achievers in the Domestic Tournaments of 2006/07 at the Galadari Hotel today 7 p.m. onwards.

Sri Lanka Cricket conducted ten tournaments last year and accordingly twenty clubs will receive trophies which are for the respective winners and runners-up. Cricketers with outstanding performances will also receive individual awards for each of the tournaments, in various categories while the Player of the Year will receive the grand prize of a brand new Suzuki Swift car. There will be also three (03) awards to the best Curators of the clubs.

The ten tournaments conducted during 2006 / 07 are as follows. Premier League Tier A (Super 8 ). Premier League Tier B, Premier Limited Over Tier A, Premier Limited Over Tier B, Sara League, Sara Limited Over, Under 23 Division I, Under 23 Division II, Twenty/20 and Donovan Andree Trophy.

The Chief Guest will be Minister of Sports Gamini Lokuge while the Guest of Honour will be Minister Bandula Basnayake.

The Sri Lanka National Team will be in attendance and the other invitees include former national captains along with a host of other representatives.
