D.S. outplay S. Thomas’ on first innings

D.S. Senanayake College held the upper hand in their Astra Under-15 Division II Cricket Tournament second round fixture against S. Thomas’ College at the College Grounds in Mount Lavinia played recently.

S. Thomas’ College, batting first, were dismissed for 179 runs, with B.T. Dharmasena top scoring with 66 followed by G.V.S. De Silva who scored 26. For D.S., the wickets were shared between Kalpa Kathriarachchi (3 for 44), Oshan Dharmarathne (3 for 43) and Dinith Wanninayaka (2 for 49).

In reply, D. S. Senanayake scored 189 runs for 9 wickets with Skipper Oshan Dharmarathne making 42 and useful contributions coming from Shenal Amarasinghe (35), Madumal Weerasinghe (24) and Ashan Gunasekara (23). In bowling, R.G. Mathagaweera of S. Thomas’ College took 4 wickets for 76 supported by S.R. Danthanarayana taking 2 wickets for 14. (HW)
