Muslim Aid assistance for 30 deprived children
Thirty disadvantaged children will be assisted to stay in school and remain with their families under its Rainbow Family Programme, Muslim Aid Sri Lanka Field Office (MASL), Partners and Capacity Building Officer Abdul Saleem said.
The children, 20 from Trincomalee and 10 from Colombo, would have been forced to stop their education or even move into orphanages because their mothers could not afford to keep them.
The first eight beneficiaries signed agreements at the Centre for Islamic Studies in Colombo on Tuesday and the remaining 22 will sign by the end of the month, Mr. Saleem said.“We have identified children from all communities as part of peace building and creating understanding among them.“We encourage interaction among the mothers and the children,” he said.
