Line-class fishing comes to Lanka

Anglers in Sri Lanka can look forward to the‘line-class’ fishing competition to be held on October 14 at the Bolgoda Lake, for the first time in Sri Lanka. This exciting event is organized by the Sport Fishing Club of Sri Lanka and will feature some of the best anglers in the country.

The main aim of this competition according to its organizers is to develop and promote the sport in Sri Lanka and also to introduce a new paradigm to the sport-fishing enthusiasts. Around 100 anglers ranging from ages 12 to 70 are expected to participate at the inaugural event.

The line-class fishing competition brings in an interesting and challenging dimension to fishing. The angler needs to use a thin finishing line with a low ‘breaking strain’ and light tackle (rods and reels), thereby introducing an element of sport that gives a fish a fair chance of getting away.

The closing date for the applications is October 9, 2007 and interested candidates should contact the Sport-fishing club of Sri Lanka.
