Planners warn hill country not safe
The glorious hill country of Sri Lanka famed for its beauty and unique climate would not be healthy to settle in, with heavy rain, landslides and earthquakes likely to continue in the future, the Town Planners Association warns. Town Planners Association past president Lakshman Jayasekara said town planners have re-identified these fragile areas and urge all parties to be more vigilant, take measures to protect these areas and conserve them.
 
Central finance assets quality weakening
A weakening of the Sri Lankan economy could see Central Finance Company’s (CF’s) asset quality deteriorating in the current financial year. “However because of CF's well developed credit risk management framework, it is expected that the asset quality will continue to compare favourably against the sector,” a top rating agency said.
 
Mighara: A rising star
A rising star splashing the waters and who has made a name for himself in just a short period of five years is Mighara Hulangamuwa from Trinity College Kandy just reaching the age of twelve. The little kid begun entering the swimming pool just past his sixth birthday has made a name for himself having created or broken existing records that have been set by some household names in this sport.
