Pera hospital squabble: Docs,
nurses released from bond
The 31 nurses and doctors involved in a squabble over a room at the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital
and who had signed a bond under a Court order were released from it by Kandy Chief Magistrate Sumudu Premachandra.
The Magistrate told the Police that if they were filing any other charges relating to this incident the charges should be filed along with a Mediation Board report.
Peradeniya Police told the Magistrate that the doctors and nurses had reported for work on January 30 evening.
Attorney Upali Gunaratne, appearing for the nurses, told court that the issue had been settled and if the Police were seeking to file any other charges, that would be a separate issue. He further said that the two trade union leaders had not been working at the Peradeniya Hospital, but had been in Kandy and they too should be released from their bonds.
Wijeya Wickramaratne PC appeared for the doctors.
