Questions are raised by Katugastota residents on the construction of the Katugastota Bridge, which is supposed to be completed prior to the SAARC Summit in July. They say the incomplete bridge would be an eyesore to the delegates attending the Summit if it is not completed soon. Year 1 students were ceremonially welcomed in their respective schools in Kandy on Thursday. An English programme was organised under the guidance of Central Province councillor and chairperson of the Shramashakthi organization Shanthini Kongahage to teach English to the Shramashakthi Women's Samithiya children at Sirimalwatte, Kandy recently. Mrs Kongahage also distributed books to the children.

 

The Central Tennekumbura YMMA provided school stationery for needy students of schools in Tennekumbura and Kandy. Picture shows chief guest Dr. J.S. Sinniah, (Surgeon/Commander- Sri Lanka Navy, retd.) distributing the materials to students. Also in the picture are A.A. Mohammed Nagoorpichai, Life General Secretary and M.S.M. Salahudeen, treasurer of the association.
