Ranjit Wirasinha shoots lowest nett

Ranjit 'pepper & salt' Wirasinha is no spring chicken, he was lively, bouncy and loaded with Ginseng when he cracked a stunning 5 under par nett 66 to capture the Amtrad Masters Trophy often putting with great accuracy and hitting the fairways 'middle for diddle'. He was waiting for autograph hunters but very few were interested so he moved to the 19th to light up the whole enclosure. After shot after shot he decided to carry a beaming smile home where Malkanthi was waiting with a special preparation of Basmati laced with Seeduwa Lagoon Crab Claws soaked in Nepalese Ginger & Garlic sauce & Lebanese Lemon Grass. It was a great day for the not so young man. Black Stone house P.B.Kalugalgedera came one shot behind on nett 67.

"A" Division
In the Classic Division hefty Savantha Sproule de Saram came back after a fairly long drought to hit a nett par round and collect applause beating Romesh Abhayaratne and Murad Ismail on 72 each.

"B" Division
Lalin Samarawickrema hit the lowest gross score 80 together with Harin Udeshi and Priya Fernando. Lalin was in top form great off the tees and quite comfortable on the greens. Playing off 13 his nett 67 was adequate to take the AMTRAD "B" Classic.

"C" Division
Two rookies did remarkably well Suneth Wijesinghe sparkling on nett 67. He was overjoyed and lapped up the pleasures of the 19th with his pals. Joining in was Sanith Gamage who was naughty a couple of times and paid the price to get 2 strokes behind. Both are good prospects, enthusiastic like mad.

Seniors
Indy Perayerawar and Ranjit Thabrew were neck to neck on 78 each and then the adjudicator decreed that Indy was the winner with a better rear nine.

Disaster
The century zone was loaded to capacity with Hemal Fernando and Kumar Mirchandani sparkling with uncontrolled extravagant stroke play. Lester Weinman and Michael Sproule had a battle on their hands one trying to be more decorative than the other. They ended on a dead heat position.

Poolists
Once again they have been left out totally neglected. Daniel Glen the Royal Colombo Professional of international repute has identified massive talent in those who come under his wings despite lack of financing and equipment. I recall Peter Ridley the Professional advocating that the Caddies must be given playing time between 10.30 a.m. and 1.30 p.m. at least 3 days per week. Chris Seymour strongly stressed that the poolists must be invited to mix with the "A" players in any stroke play competition. Will the snobs ever agree to this proposal? They should if they accept that the world's greatest have been Caddies. Amtrad Ltd. did well to sponsor the day's outing and they were richly rewarded with excellent patronage.
