Mowjood consolidates his position

The Bata - The Sunday Times Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer Contests 2008

Royal allrounder Haroon Mowjood continues to hold on to the initiative that he wrested from his Thomian counterpart Naweed Ghany last week at the end of Count number 12 of he Bata-The Sunday Times Most Popular AllIsland Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year Contest.

Another noteworthy factor is that at the end of this count Royalist Mowjood who is sitting pretty with 23,481 votes, not only had consolidated his position but now is 4222 votes ahead of his closest rival Naweed Ghany who has polled 19,259 votes.

It also seems that Palian Ishan Athureliya is taking a lone trek in the park in the Outstation contest with 2123 votes to credit against Tissa MMV’s Dinesh Chathuranga who now has 1505 votes at the end of this count.

In the International segment, Asian International’s Bakeer Markar is set on top with 4045 votes while another team mate of his Shaharan Jifrey has made an entry into the fifth position with only three votes.

It also must be noted that the contestants must refrain from submitting old coupons for counting. The organisers of this competition have decided to reject all such coupons in the future.
