A mountain - sized headache AVERTISTMENTS
Boutique-owner Ranjith, who has a temporary stall along the path that winds up Sri Pada, is tired of telling pilgrims not to litter the holy mountain.“However much we tell people not to drop garbage along the way, they continue to do so,” says the frustrated vendor as he points to a teenager who has just tossed a biscuit wrapper over his shoulder. Picked up by the breeze, it is deposited further up the path.

Spacious vision
The entrance to Nalin Indrasena’s house is a narrow dark corridor, the only light of which comes from square niches in the wall, designed to hold the owner’s set of sculptures. Thus stepping into the main section of the house comes as something of a surprise; it is large and open. In fact, this was the idea behind the contrast between the entrance and the house.

Croc threat
It is a busy neighbourhood in Wattala, just on the outskirts of Colombo, but the murky waters of the canal now spell danger to the people of the area. Crocodiles have been spotted in the water not once but many times these past few weeks. For the people living in makeshift houses along the canal, this is not a new occurrence.
