Rajitha returns with ‘No Return’

The premier of award winning contemporary playwright and director Rajitha Dissanayake's most recent theatre endeavour ‘Apahu Harenna Behe’- ‘No Return’ will be staged at 7 pm on June 7 2008 at the Lionel Wendt Theatre.

As one man vows to do everything in his power to achieve supremacy, another fights to preserve his higher purpose in life. The fate of the men and women you meet in this piece of theatre will at times be optimistic and at times be frightfully daunting. Although their search for happiness could end only in despair, they will by no means abandon their search.

Young playwright Dissanayake is famous for his award winning theatrical productions like Hansayantath Man Aasai’ (I Love Swans Also), "Mata Vedi Thiyannedda" (Aren't You Going to Shoot me), "Veeraya Merila" (The Hero is Dead) and his last being "Sihina Horu Aran" (Stolen Dreams). Immensely popular and thought provoking play, "Veeraya Merila", swept the 2002 State Drama Festival with five awards including that of 'Best Production' while "Sihina Horu Aran" which won Best Original Script at the 2006 State Drama Festival and had a series of international performances in Europe and India including Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland and Italy and featured at the prestigious 'Bharath Rang Mahaotsav' of the National School of Drama in India New Delhi.

'No Return', a production by the Freedom Theatre Group is played by Saumya Liyanage, W. Jayasiri, Jayani Senanayake, Prasad Soriyarachchi, Darinapriya Dias, Bimal Jayakodi, Shyam Fernando and Anasuya Subasinghe in the lead roles.

Behind the screen music is composed by Theja Buddhika, costumes and set design by Pradeep Chandrasiri, make-up by Priyantha Dissanayake. Lighting design by Priyankara Ratnayake and Ranga Samarakoon and stage management by Malith Peiris while Jude Shrimal is the coordinator of this play. Tickets for the play are priced at Rs. 200, Rs.300, Rs. 500 and Rs. 750.
