‘Kakul Hathare Illandaria’ walks to Wendts

Veteran playwright R. R. Samarakone's latest theatrical production 'Kakul Hathare Illandiria' will go on the boards at Lionel Wendt on June 8 at 3.30 and 7 pm.

Starting with Ledak Nethi Ledek in 1968, Samarakone wrote and produced a series of plays including 'Charita Dekak' in 1969 and 'Ahasin Wetunu Minissu' in 1971 which bagged the awards for the best original script and production at the Drama festival organised by the Cultural Affairs Department. Some of this other famous plays include "Kelani Palama", "Duwili", "Idama" and "Kaputu bo".

"Kakul Hathare Illandariya", a play which is a satirical comment on our society stars Wijaya Nandasiri, Saman Hemarathne, Rathnashila Perera and Anusha Disanayake in the key roles. Senior lecturer Ariyarathna Kaluarachchi handles the choreography while stage setting is by lecturer Lionel Bentharage and the music has been composed by Shantha Peiries. Ravindra Ariyarathna and Asoka Zoysa are in charge of stage management. Sound operator is Chandana Nishantha Peiries.

'Kakul Hathare Illandariya' is presented by Jude Srimal.
