Athas case: Time allowed for both counsel to appeal

In an appeal filed by two Air Force officers against the sentence delivered by the Colombo High Court, Deputy Solicitor General Dapula de Livera moved for time to submit written submissions to the Appeal Court

In this case Rukman Herath and Don Pradeep Sujeewa Kannangara two officers of the Air Force were sentenced to nine years RI and a fine of Rs. 10,000 and in case of default another year added to the sentence, for using firearms, gaining unlawful entry to the premises and intimidation of Defence Correspondent and The Sunday Times Consultant Editor Iqbal Athas,.

Justice Sarath de Abrew of the Court of Appeal granted time till July 9 to both counsel to submit their written submissions.
