Enjoy a range of popular dishes from Switzerland in an extensive dinner buffet which features Raclette besides others at the Trans Asia Hotel. For those who are not familiar with Raclette, here is a brief description of this mouth-watering dish. Raclette originated from the province of Wallis and it is said that it needs a certain skill to serve it. It is warmed and artfully scraped with a knife onto your plate and served with young potatoes, pickled onions and gherkins.
This will be done by the hotel's Executive Chef Udo Schoen who is an expert on this! Feast on Berner Platte - which is a platter of assorted meats such as smoked pork, sausages and beef brisket served with saüerkraut and boiled potatoes.
There is also another popular dish known as Fleischkäse - which is a meat loaf, and Knöpfli - a homemade Swiss Pasta, Bündnerfleisch which is air dried beef, and Züricher Geschnetzeltes - sautéed pork in mushroom cream sauce to name a few.
‘Though the above Swiss names are not too familiar with the local community, the team at Summerfields could explain better the menu that will be dished out should there be any inquiries’ said a spokesperson of the hotel!
Whilst the delicious Swiss favourites for desserts will also be a highlight, Polenta mit Rosinen which simply means Polenta with raisins, Rüebli Torte - Carrot Cake, Haselnusstorte - you guessed right, a Hazelnut Tart, and many more from the regions of Switzerland!
Complementing this wonderful feast, is the folklore music provided by the acclaimed Watertower Band from Switzerland who are being flown in specially for the occasion by the kind courtesy of Sri Lanka's national airline - SriLankan Airlines.
Dates to be noted are the 23rd to 29th June.
