I am one of the members of the Funday Times Club. This club has been organized by the Funday Times of The Sunday Times.

First, I sent in four neatly filled coupons including a picture of myself to Funday Times. Then my photograph including my name, age and membership number was published in the paper. Later, I received my membership card and I laminated it for further protection.

Once you become a member, you can participate in lots of fun happenings and great times. Last December members between 4 – 8 years enjoyed an evening of fun and games at P.G. Martin Wonderworld.

On May 11, the members between 9 – 14 years enjoyed a day at Leisure World. I was also a lucky member to receive a complete package. We were also given a snack and a cap. We enjoyed the entire day in both the dry and wet areas.

I wish there would be many more interesting activities in the future and I invite you too to join our club and have fun.

My garden - 9 – 11 years

Filled with serene beauty and countless varieties of flowers is my very own back garden. It was a gift from my grandmother for my tenth birthday.

My garden has a border of bright pink Japanese roses. At the corner of my garden there is a huge old mango tree with a swing hanging from it. In the centre of my garden is a bird bath surrounded by a bush of jasmine flowers.

Every morning as I step outside to greet the humming birds, blue jays, pigeons and magpies, my garden is filled with the sweet smell of jasmine. There are two towering coconut trees at the bottom of my garden. I always sit and enjoy the sunrise on the dew covered grass.

My garden is the most relaxing and peaceful place I have known. It is just like my own little heaven.

A family outing - 8 years and below

Last month my father took my family for a family outing. Early morning my father, mother and I went to Belihuloya by our car.

It was a sunny day. There were lots of picnickers at Belihuloya Resthouse when we reached there. We had some snacks and a drink. Then we went to the river. It was a beautiful and calm river. We had a nice bath, water play and nice swimming there. As it was a rocky river we had a lot of fun.

After a bath we had a delicious lunch and enjoyed tasty ice-cream.
