Entrepreneur Kiran Atapattu was recently seen busy looking members for his new outfit to be formed shortly.
He is a keen music and fashion fan and one time manager of the now defunct band 'Eternal Soul'.
Kiran said he will be looking at possibilities to resurrect his band and this time it would be an all girl band. ‘I really need to put up an all girl band, mainly because it is easy to market here and overseas’ he added.
Kiran is the Chairman of Colombo Engineering, the premier ship repairing company in Sri Lanka. He has won 12 ‘Business Excellence’, ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ and ‘Exporter of the Year’ Awards during the past fifteen years. Kiran said his ship repairing business brought much foreign exchange than any other single segment of tourism.
‘While we do the repairs at sea the crew and the members come ashore and stay in five star hotels and travel allover the country. They shop at the top designer shops and spent lavishly on cuisine, beverages and entertainment. They buy many precious stones and do luxury shopping. Though they have small numbers the yield is very high. Because they are high spenders' Kiran explained about the newest segment of tourism, which needs to be developed.
According to him ship repairing and other shipping matters are good revenue spinners to the country and it should be developed under tourism sector or under any appropriate authority.
Nowever his musical side of life is much into the action now and determined to come out with this new concept.
