CCC meeting on JKH on Sept. 25

The main committee of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) is due to meet on Thursday, September 25 to further discuss whether John Keells Holdings (JKH) – as a member -- has violated the code of ethics over its role in the tainted privatization of Lanka Marine Services Ltd (LMSL), informed sources said.

At the last meeting where it was stated that there were ‘issues’ over the judgment, the chamber committee decided to set up group of eminent persons to advise the chamber on this issue. “The chamber needs to sort this one fast – one way or the other. Either absolve the company of any violation or penalize them. A decision must be made fast whereas one sees the chamber vacillating on this issue,” one member said, adding that, “any delay in a decision will reflect badly on the leadership.”
Another meeting of the chamber advisory council is scheduled to be held on September 23 where this issue is expected to come up, the member said.
