Sri Lanka A scored an exciting three-run win over South Africa A in their first in the ODI series at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom. Sri Lanka A batting first made a highly competitive 274/6 in their 50 overs with opener Upul Tharanga (56), skipper Thilina Kandamby (67) and allrounder Angelo Mathews (70) batting with purpose.
Left-arm fast medium bowler Wayne Parnell was easily the pick of the home bowlers with figures of 2/45 in his 10 overs while keeper Heino Kuhn picked up four catches behind the stumps.
South Africa A in their turn though keeping with the required rate lost wickets at regular intervals, but failed against the bowling of Ishara Amerasinghe who returned with impressive figures 5 for 44 in 9.4 overs, while off spinner Dilruwan Perera captured 2 for 33 off eight overs.
Amerasinghe was selected as the man-of-the-match.
