After the earlier bomb explosion in Pakistan, the touring Australia cricket team pulled out of the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Champions Trophy in Pakistan. They were joined in the pull-out by England, New Zealand and South Africa.
However, the recent bomb explosions in India did not have a similar effect on the Australian cricketers. The answer is simple.
The dollar is what attracts most cricketers these days to the game.
The Australian stand is disgraceful. It is time the ICC slapped a huge fine on countries that boycott games ostensibly on the grounds of security and safety. Double standards such as these only serve to encourage cricketers in other parts of the world to do the same.
Pakistan should either demand compensation from countries that boycotted the Championship Trophy or insist that these countries get out of the ICC.
